Shocking Footage Captures Moment Police Get Knifed in Ambush
One ranking policeman who jumped to the aid of a fellow officer that was assaulted by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a traffic accident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Officer attacked," the constable could be heard saying over his communication device.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage shared by the agency revealed Brown, who was dressed in dark clothing with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from behind with a knife outstretched.
He struck the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the ground although being multiple times hit with the knife.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a safe opportunity, bringing the fight to an end.
Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my neck here, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sgt Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his throat and more wounds to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.
The department stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his colleague's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders reached the scene.
This most recent recognition comes after the law enforcement team received departmental Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in spring 2024.
They additionally received a Area Bravery Award in mid-2024.
"The actions of the entire team ultimately protected one another and meant no bystanders experienced any injuries."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per the department.
